Stateland Coffee began with a place — and a past.

Nestled inside a building once known as Stateland Elementary, the space carries a layered history. What was once a segregated school and neighborhood has, over time, been transformed into a hub of connection, care, and education for all. Today, the building stands as a quiet testament to restoration — a place that once divided now bringing people together.

The goal for Stateland Coffee’s brand was to honor that story without being stuck in it.

The visual identity draws inspiration from the original school’s vintage graphics and signage — sturdy typography, simple forms, and a utilitarian warmth — while softening those elements with texture, restraint, and warmth. The result is a brand that feels rooted and familiar, yet renewed. Rustic without being rough. Vintage without feeling dated. A nod to where the building has been, and a clear reflection of what it has become.
